About Rossandra White

A fourth-generation South African, Rossandra White spent her first twenty-two years in the copper mining town of Nkana, Zambia as well as a number of years in Zimbabwe. Family holidays consisted of trips across Africa in a boxy tin can of a car with Corky the parrot. Just as Shell Oil decided to chronicle the family’s eccentric trips, the war with the Mau-Maus in east Africa scuttled their chance for fame and fortune. At twenty-two, she achieved her lifelong dream of emigrating to America along with a husband and one and a half babies. The marriage didn’t last. And then she met the ideal man, her perfect fit. Together they bought an old 1920s cottage--the "Hobbit House"--in Laguna Beach and made pottery together. Rossandra started writing a fictionalized version of her childhood, which became the novels, MONKEY'S WEDDING and MINE DANCES. When her twenty-five year marriage ended, she wrote the memoir, LOVEYOUBYE. She still lives in the Hobbit House along with her two Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Fergie and Jake.
